How It Works

Step-by-Step for Schools & Institutions

1. Free Registration & Verification (Institution Side)

The institution signs up as a "verified & Afremit Service Provider"
Provides official school name, logo, address, and contact person
Submits KYC documents and verified local bank account details
Once verified, the institution is listed on Afremit's platform under the "Education" category, organized by country, province, and city

2. Tuition Payment Request (Diaspora Payer Side)

The diaspora payer visits www.afremit.com and selects the "Education" tab
Searches for the institution by name, country, province, or school category (e.g. Primary, High School, College)
Selects the correct institution and fills out a secure tuition request form including:
- Student full names
- Student ID or registration number
- Purpose (e.g., Term 2 Fees, Registration, Exam Fees)
- Amount to be paid (or uploads invoice/quote)
Reviews summary and selects a preferred payment method (international card, bank transfer, etc.)
Funds are securely deposited into Afremit's escrow account

Escrow Protection & Institutional Verification

Afremit alerts the institution’s bursar or finance contact via email/dashboard
The institution logs in to review and verify the payment request against internal records
Once the institution confirms details and uploads an invoice (if applicable), Afremit authorizes escrow release
Funds are transferred securely to the institution’s bank account

Payment Confirmation & Reconciliation

Payment reflects in the institution's account within 1–3 business days
A remittance report is sent to the institution with payer name, amount, student reference, and payment date
Institutions can view the full payment history, export reports, and manage incomingrequests via the Afremit provider dashboard
